Our classes are taught by acclaimed and experienced instructors, many of whom are members of the College of Examiners and assisted in the development of the RCM Theory curriculum. Students will receive an excellent foundation to ensure success, and in some cases, will earn high school and university credits.
The study of theory is an essential component of well-rounded musical training and is intended to support the practical studies to enhance and enrich the musical experience. Based on the Theory Syllabus, 2016 Edition and the accompanying Celebrate Theory series, The RCM theory curriculum provides an effective, well-sequenced path for developing musical understanding and literacy. The curriculum encompasses theory basics, harmony & counterpoint, analysis, and music history. Students are strongly encouraged to include the study of theory at every level of practical study.
